Best Mushroom Coffee for Men in 2026: 7 Brands Ranked by What Is on the Label

Seven mushroom coffees ranked on printed doses against trial doses, caffeine, what else is in the scoop and price per cup: Alphacino, BodyBrain, Cuppa, Four Sigmatic, Everyday Dose, RYZE and MUD\WTR, with every label figure read on the day and every trial dose sourced.
How Long Does Mushroom Coffee Take to Work? The Caffeine Clock and the Mushroom Clock Reading Best Mushroom Coffee for Men in 2026: 7 Brands Ranked by What Is on the Label 24 minutes

Short answer: the best mushroom coffee for men is the one that prints a dose for the ingredient you are buying it for, and that dose is within sight of the trial that made the claim. Ranked on that rule, with caffeine, what else is in the scoop and price per cup as the tie-breakers: 1. Alphacino (the only cup with the full 600 mg KSM-66 ashwagandha trial dose, 100 mg of real coffee, and every ingredient printed), 2. BodyBrain (Tongkat Ali at 300 mg plus ashwagandha, printed doses, 70 mg of caffeine), 3. Cuppa (KSM-66 at 250 mg in an Arabica cup), 4. Four Sigmatic Focus (real ground coffee with lion's mane and no men's ingredient), 5. Everyday Dose (a 45 mg nootropic latte with 4 g of collagen), 6. RYZE (48 mg, six mushrooms with no per-species dose, coconut milk and MCT), 7. MUD\WTR (a cacao drink, not a coffee). We sell Alphacino, so read the criteria first and check the label table yourself. Every figure below is from each brand's own product page, read on 10 September 2026, and every trial dose carries its source.

How we ranked the best mushroom coffee for men

"Best mushroom coffee" lists usually rank on taste, packaging and how the brand describes itself. This one ranks on five things you can check from a label, in this order.

  1. Printed doses, and how they compare with the trial dose. Every men's-health claim in this category rests on a handful of human trials, and each trial used a dose. KSM-66 ashwagandha lowered stress scores and serum cortisol at 600 mg a day over 60 days1, and a different ashwagandha extract raised testosterone 14.7% more than placebo in men aged 40 to 70 over 8 weeks, with no difference in fatigue or vigour scores2. Tongkat Ali cut cortisol 16% and raised testosterone 37% over 4 weeks in moderately stressed adults3. Maca raised sexual desire from week 8 at 1,500 to 3,000 mg a day, without moving testosterone4. Lion's mane improved cognitive scores in older adults at 3 g a day over 16 weeks5. Cordyceps improved oxygen uptake after 3 weeks at 4 g a day of a mushroom blend, and did nothing after 1 week6. A blend that hides the dose cannot be checked against any of those, so it ranks below one that prints it, whatever the marketing says.
  2. Caffeine, printed. Caffeine is the only ingredient in any of these cups that changes how you perform today; across 21 meta-analyses it improved endurance, strength, power and speed, in studies run mostly on young men7. A 45 mg cup and a 100 mg cup are different products, and a brand that will not say which it sells gets marked down.
  3. What else is in the scoop. Collagen, coconut milk powder, MCT oil and sweeteners turn a coffee into a latte. That is fine if you want a latte; it matters if you drink it fasted or want to control what you are consuming.
  4. Whether the caffeine and theanine pairing is there. The combination improved reaction time and attention accuracy and lowered "tired" ratings against caffeine alone8, and it is cheap to include. Its absence is a tell.
  5. Price per serving, at the 30-serving one-time price. Subscriptions and starter kits distort the comparison, so every price below is the plain 30-serving purchase.

What we did not rank on: taste (covered in what mushroom coffee tastes like), and the health claims each brand makes for itself, since the trials are the same for everyone and only the doses differ.

Mushroom coffee brands compared: the label table

Read from each brand's product page on 10 September 2026. "Not printed" means the brand publishes a blend weight or nothing, not a per-ingredient figure.

Brand Coffee base Caffeine Mushrooms Men's ingredients Also in the scoop 30 servings
Alphacino Robusta instant 100 mg Lion's mane fruiting-body extract, 500 mg KSM-66 ashwagandha 600 mg, black maca 4:1 224 mg, S7 50 mg L-theanine 100 mg, vitamin D, green tea leaf extract; no creamer or sweetener $49.97, $1.67 a cup
BodyBrain Freeze-dried Colombian, 2.8 g About 70 mg Lion's mane 600 mg Tongkat Ali 10:1 300 mg, ashwagandha extract 400 mg (unbranded) L-theanine 200 mg; no creamer $44.99, $1.50 a cup
Cuppa Arabica About 70 mg Lion's mane and cordyceps 8:1, 250 mg KSM-66 ashwagandha 250 mg L-theanine 100 mg, MCT with prebiotic fibre; natural flavours in flavoured versions Price not re-read on 10 Sep; label read 7 Sep
Four Sigmatic Focus Organic ground coffee, 340 g bag A regular brewed coffee; not printed as a number Lion's mane (dark roast adds chaga); per-serving dose not printed None Nothing else; it is coffee $20 a bag, about $0.85 a cup at 14 g
Everyday Dose Coffee+ Cold brew coffee extract 45 mg Mild, 90 mg Medium Lion's mane and chaga combined, 1,500 mg fruiting body None Collagen 4 g, L-theanine 150 mg $45, $1.50 a cup
RYZE Organic instant Arabica 48 mg medium roast, 80 to 90 mg dark Six mushrooms; per-species dose not printed None Coconut milk powder, MCT oil, fibre blend $45, $1.50 a cup
MUD\WTR :rise Cacao, not coffee "A fraction of the caffeine of coffee"; not printed as a number Lion's mane, chaga, cordyceps, reishi; doses not printed None Cacao, chai spices $50, $1.67 a cup

Two patterns stand out before any ranking. Only three of the seven carry an ingredient with a men's trial behind it (Alphacino, BodyBrain, Cuppa), and only those three print every active dose. The other four are general wellness coffees being sold to men by the adjective.

The 7 best mushroom coffees for men, ranked

1. Alphacino: best overall for men

What is in it. One scoop is 100 mg of caffeine from robusta, 100 mg of L-theanine, 600 mg of KSM-66 ashwagandha, 500 mg of HericiumPrime lion's mane fruiting-body extract, 224 mg of black maca 4:1 extract, 50 mg of the S7 plant blend, vitamin D and green tea leaf extract. No creamer, no sweetener, 10 calories.

Against the trials. The ashwagandha is the exact 600 mg from the 60-day stress trial1, taken once rather than split; this is the only coffee on the list at that dose. The theanine and caffeine sit inside the range the attention trial used8. The maca is about 900 mg of root equivalent against a 1,500 to 3,000 mg trial dose4, and the lion's mane is a sixth of the 3 g trial dose5, which is true of every coffee here and is why we tell buyers to judge those two in months. The S7 blend rests on a single manufacturer-funded study and we rest no claim on it.

Best for. Men whose problem is stress and a caffeine curve they can live with: a real 100 mg cup with the one men's ingredient at its trial dose. Watch out for: it is an instant robusta, so it tastes like strong coffee rather than a latte; and if lion's mane is your only reason to buy, no coffee on this list reaches the trial dose. $49.97 for 30 with a 60-day money-back guarantee, which is the length of the ashwagandha trial. Full label on the product page.

Alphacino tub beside a steaming mug of black coffee and scattered beans on a walnut table
100 mg of caffeine, 600 mg of KSM-66, every dose printed. The lion's mane is under the trial dose, as it is in every coffee here.

2. BodyBrain: best if you want Tongkat Ali

What is in it. A sachet of 2.8 g of freeze-dried Colombian coffee delivering about 70 mg of caffeine, with 300 mg of Tongkat Ali 10:1 extract, 400 mg of an unbranded ashwagandha extract, 600 mg of lion's mane and 200 mg of L-theanine. Every dose is printed.

Against the trials. The Tongkat Ali is above the 200 mg a day used in the stress-hormone trial, where cortisol fell 16% and testosterone rose 37% over 4 weeks3; the caveat is that the trial was 63 people for one month. The ashwagandha is 400 mg of an extract with no brand and no standardisation printed, so it cannot be matched to the KSM-66 trial. The theanine is generous against a light caffeine dose, which makes for a calm cup rather than a sharp one.

Best for. Men who specifically want Tongkat Ali in the morning cup, at a printed dose. Watch out for: 70 mg is a mild coffee, and the ashwagandha is the weaker half of the men's stack. $44.99 for 30. Our full BodyBrain review reads the label line by line.

3. Cuppa: best milder cup with KSM-66

What is in it. An Arabica coffee at about 70 mg of caffeine with 250 mg of KSM-66 ashwagandha, 250 mg of an 8:1 lion's mane and cordyceps extract, 100 mg of L-theanine, and MCT with a prebiotic fibre. The flavoured versions add natural flavours. Read from the label on 7 September; we have not re-checked the price for this list.

Against the trials. The ashwagandha is the right extract at less than half the trial dose: 250 mg against 6001. The 8:1 mushroom extract is a concentrated form, and 250 mg of it is a fair way to get more mushroom into a scoop, but it is still an order of magnitude under the 3 to 4 g the lion's mane and cordyceps trials used5,6. The theanine and caffeine pairing is present.

Best for. Men who want an Arabica taste and some KSM-66 without a full coffee's caffeine. Watch out for: the MCT makes it a light latte rather than a black cup, and the ashwagandha dose is a half measure.

4. Four Sigmatic Focus: best real ground coffee with lion's mane

What is in it. Organic ground coffee, medium or dark roast, in a 340 g bag, with lion's mane, and chaga in the dark roast. It brews like coffee because it is coffee, with a regular cup's caffeine. The per-serving mushroom dose is not printed on the product page.

Against the trials. There is nothing here for men specifically, and no printed lion's mane figure to compare with the 3 g trial dose5. What it does have is a full caffeine dose, which is the one ingredient with a same-day effect7.

Best for. Men who want to keep brewing real coffee and are curious about lion's mane. Watch out for: you are paying for a mushroom whose dose you cannot see. About $0.85 a cup, the cheapest on the list.

5. Everyday Dose Coffee+: best low-caffeine nootropic latte

What is in it. A cold brew coffee extract at 45 mg of caffeine (90 mg in the Medium blend), 1,500 mg of lion's mane and chaga fruiting body combined, 4 g of grass-fed collagen and 150 mg of L-theanine, made to be frothed.

Against the trials. The mushroom figure is the most generous on the list, though it is a combined weight for two species. The theanine is at the top of the tested range against a caffeine dose at the bottom of it8. The 4 g of collagen is protein, which is fine at breakfast and ends a fast; see does mushroom coffee break a fast. Nothing in it is aimed at men.

Best for. Men cutting caffeine hard who want a creamy morning drink. Watch out for: 45 mg is under the level at which caffeine's attention effects are reliable, so the "focus" is mostly theanine and ritual. $45 for 30.

6. RYZE: the most popular, and the least specific

What is in it. Organic instant Arabica at 48 mg of caffeine in the medium roast (80 to 90 mg in the dark), a six-mushroom blend (lion's mane, cordyceps, reishi, turkey tail, shiitake, king trumpet) with no per-species dose, coconut milk powder, MCT oil and a fibre blend.

Against the trials. Six mushrooms in one scoop means each is a fraction of a gram against trial doses of 3 to 4 g5,6, and RYZE does not print the split. There is no theanine, no adaptogen with a men's trial, and the coconut and MCT make it a latte. It is the brand most men have heard of, and the one whose label answers the fewest questions.

Best for. Someone stepping down from three coffees a day who wants a mild, creamy cup and does not care which mushroom does what. Watch out for: 48 mg will feel like a downgrade if you drink it for the coffee. $45 for 30. Our RYZE review has the full label and the trial table.

7. MUD\WTR :rise Cacao: the best coffee alternative, which is not a coffee

What is in it. A cacao and chai-spice base with lion's mane, chaga, cordyceps and reishi, sold on "a fraction of the caffeine of coffee". Mushroom doses and the caffeine figure are not printed as numbers on the product page.

Against the trials. No caffeine to speak of, so none of the exercise or attention evidence applies7,8; no men's ingredient; no printed mushroom dose. It is on this list because men searching for mushroom coffee find it, not because it competes with the cups above.

Best for. Evenings, or anyone who has decided to quit caffeine altogether. Watch out for: it is a hot cacao, and at $50 for 30 it is the most expensive item here per cup.

Which mushroom coffee is best for you? Decide by the problem

The ranking above is by label quality. The right pick depends on what you want the cup to do, and the honest map looks like this.

If your problem is The ingredient with a trial Pick Why
Stress, a short fuse, wired evenings KSM-66 ashwagandha, 600 mg, 60 days1 Alphacino The only cup at the trial dose; Cuppa is at 250 mg
Drive and libido Maca from week 84; Tongkat Ali over 4 weeks3 BodyBrain for Tongkat Ali; Alphacino for maca Neither reaches the maca trial dose; BodyBrain exceeds the Tongkat Ali one
Training, endurance, a pre-workout cup Caffeine at 3 to 6 mg per kg7 Four Sigmatic or Alphacino Only the full-caffeine cups get near a useful dose; a 48 mg cup is a warm drink
Focus without jitters Caffeine with theanine8 Alphacino, Cuppa, BodyBrain, Everyday Dose All four carry the pairing; RYZE and Four Sigmatic do not
Cutting caffeine, sleeping better A 107 mg cup needs 8.8 hours before bed9 Everyday Dose Mild, RYZE, MUD\WTR Low or no caffeine; accept that the morning lift goes with it
Fasting mornings Black cups only Alphacino, BodyBrain, Four Sigmatic Collagen, coconut milk and MCT end a fast

Most men over 40 land in the first two rows, which is why the ranking comes out the way it does; the reasoning for that age group is in mushroom coffee for men over 40. Men under 30 who train hard and sleep well often belong in the third row, where the cheapest real coffee with the most caffeine is the rational pick, and mushrooms are a bonus.

Man leaning on a kitchen counter with a mug, an Alphacino tub and a pour-over coffee beside him, garden through the window
Decide by the problem, not the mushroom count. Stress and drive point one way; training and cutting caffeine point another.

What the men's ingredients actually did in trials

The table the marketing leaves out: who was in the trial, for how long, at what dose, and which cup on this list reaches it.

Ingredient Trial Result Dose and length Cups at or near the dose
KSM-66 ashwagandha 64 adults with chronic stress1 Stress scores and serum cortisol significantly lower than placebo 300 mg twice a day, 60 days Alphacino (600 mg). Cuppa at 250 mg and BodyBrain's 400 mg unbranded extract fall short
Ashwagandha (Shoden extract) 57 overweight men aged 40 to 70 with mild fatigue2 Testosterone up 14.7% and DHEA-S up 18% more than placebo; no between-group difference in fatigue or vigour 21 mg of withanolide glycosides a day, 8 weeks None uses this extract; the KSM-66 trials are the relevant ones for the cups here
Tongkat Ali 63 moderately stressed adults3 Cortisol down 16%, testosterone up 37%, tension, anger and confusion scores down 11 to 15% Standardised hot-water root extract, 4 weeks BodyBrain (300 mg of a 10:1 extract)
Maca Men aged 21 to 564 Sexual desire improved from week 8; testosterone and oestradiol unchanged 1,500 or 3,000 mg a day, 12 weeks None. Alphacino's 224 mg 4:1 extract is about 900 mg of root equivalent
Lion's mane 30 adults aged 50 to 80 with mild cognitive impairment5 Cognitive scores above placebo from week 8; fell within 4 weeks of stopping 3 g of dried fruiting body a day, 16 weeks None. Everyday Dose's 1,500 mg is a combined lion's mane and chaga weight; Alphacino carries 500 mg of extract
Cordyceps 28 young adults6 VO2max improved after 3 weeks, not after 1 4 g a day of a mushroom blend None. RYZE and Cuppa carry it at fractions of a gram
Caffeine 21 meta-analyses, mostly young men7 Better endurance, strength, power, jumping and speed Typically 3 to 6 mg per kg before exercise Four Sigmatic and Alphacino get nearest; a 100 mg cup is 1.25 mg per kg for an 80 kg man
L-theanine with caffeine Crossover trial in healthy adults8 Faster reaction time, better attention accuracy, lower "tired" ratings than caffeine alone 250 mg theanine with 150 mg caffeine, single dose Alphacino, Cuppa, BodyBrain, Everyday Dose all carry the pairing

The honest summary: the strongest men's evidence in this category belongs to ashwagandha and Tongkat Ali, and only three cups carry either at a printed dose. Everything mushroom-shaped is under-dosed in every coffee sold, ours included, which is why mushroom coffee benefits for men ranks the benefits by evidence rather than by mushroom.

What to avoid: the three ways a "men's coffee" goes wrong

  1. A proprietary blend with no doses. If the label gives one weight for six mushrooms, or none at all, you cannot check it against any trial, and the brand has chosen it that way. Four of the seven cups above have at least one unprinted dose.
  2. "Male enhancement" coffees with effects in 30 minutes. No botanical works on that clock; a drug does. A review of the FDA's tainted-supplement database found 776 products pulled for hidden pharmaceuticals, 45% of them sold for sexual enhancement, and instant "herbal" coffees appear in it repeatedly. The red flags and the evidence are in male vitality coffee: what works and what to avoid. None of the seven brands here is in that category.
  3. Buying a latte when you wanted a coffee. Collagen, coconut milk powder and MCT are fine ingredients and honest ones, but they change what the cup is: more calories, a broken fast, and a milder caffeine dose than the marketing implies. Read the "also in the scoop" column before the mushroom column.

Price per cup, and what you get for it

Brand Per cup Caffeine per dollar Printed men's ingredient at a trial dose?
Four Sigmatic Focus About $0.85 Highest; a full brewed cup No men's ingredient
BodyBrain $1.50 About 47 mg Yes: Tongkat Ali above the trial dose
Everyday Dose $1.50 30 mg (Mild) No men's ingredient
RYZE $1.50 32 mg (medium roast) No men's ingredient
Alphacino $1.67 60 mg Yes: KSM-66 at the full 600 mg
MUD\WTR $1.67 Near zero No men's ingredient
Cuppa Not re-read on 10 Sep About 70 mg a cup KSM-66 at 250 mg, under the dose

Per cup the spread is small, $1.50 to $1.67 for every instant option, so price should not decide it. What differs is what the dollar buys: a full coffee with the ashwagandha trial dose, a mild coffee with Tongkat Ali, or a latte with a mushroom blend.

Where Alphacino fits, and where it does not

We put our own cup first, so here is the case against it as well as for it. For: it is the only cup with a men's ingredient at its full trial dose, it prints every figure, it is a real 100 mg coffee with the theanine pairing, it is black, and the 60-day guarantee matches the length of the trial you are testing it against. Against: the lion's mane and maca are under their trial doses, as in every coffee; the S7 blend has one manufacturer study behind it; it is robusta instant, which some men find harsh next to an Arabica; and it costs 17 cents a cup more than BodyBrain or RYZE. If the ingredient you want is Tongkat Ali, buy BodyBrain. If you want a latte, buy Everyday Dose. If you want a cup of coffee with the ashwagandha dose that was actually trialled, this is the one. How many cups a day is sensible and when to drink them are in how much mushroom coffee you can drink a day and the best time to drink mushroom coffee.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best mushroom coffee for men?

On printed doses against trial doses, Alphacino, because it is the only cup carrying KSM-66 ashwagandha at the 600 mg used in the 60-day stress trial, in a real 100 mg coffee with every ingredient listed. BodyBrain is the pick if Tongkat Ali is the ingredient you want.

Which mushroom coffee brand is best overall?

It depends on what you are buying it for. For a men's ingredient at a trial dose: Alphacino or BodyBrain. For the cheapest real coffee with lion's mane: Four Sigmatic Focus. For a low-caffeine latte: Everyday Dose or RYZE. For no caffeine at all: MUD\WTR, which is a cacao drink.

Is RYZE mushroom coffee good for men?

It is a mild, creamy 48 mg cup with six mushrooms at undisclosed doses and nothing aimed at men. Good for stepping down from strong coffee; not a men's formula.

Does mushroom coffee boost testosterone?

No mushroom does in a human trial. Two adaptogens have data: an ashwagandha extract raised testosterone 14.7% more than placebo in men aged 40 to 70 over 8 weeks, and Tongkat Ali raised it 37% in stressed adults over 4 weeks. Maca improved desire without changing testosterone at all.

Which mushroom coffee has the most caffeine?

Four Sigmatic Focus, because it is a full brewed coffee, followed by Alphacino at 100 mg and RYZE dark roast at 80 to 90 mg. The low end is Everyday Dose Mild at 45 mg, RYZE medium at 48 mg, and MUD\WTR at a fraction of a coffee.

Is mushroom coffee worth it for men?

Only if the cup carries an ingredient with a men's trial at a dose near the trial's. Ashwagandha and Tongkat Ali qualify in three of the seven cups here. The mushrooms themselves are under-dosed in every coffee sold, so pay for the adaptogen and the coffee, and treat the mushroom as a bonus.

We make Alphacino. Competitor figures are read from each brand's own product page on the date stated and can change; check the label before you buy. This article is general information, not medical advice. If you take medication or have a heart, thyroid or hormone condition, ask your doctor before adding caffeine or adaptogens to your routine.
